His postgraduate training in the United States includes his pediatrics residency served at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in New York City, New York (1989-1991), as well as his psychiatry residency performed at the same educational venue (1991-1995). Dr. Patel completed attained board certification in psychiatry with the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry.
